A Poem: Child of Chaos

Child of chaos,

Child of play,

Child of sibling war.

Wild child throwing water balloons

from the second story window.

Child of forts,

Child of battles,

Child of nerf guns.

Wild child who flips the couch on it’s side

To use it as a shield.

Child of water,

Child of river,

Child of ocean waves.

Wild child with her boogie board

stopping only for lunch.

Child of song,

Child of dance,

Child of late nights.

Wild child who sneaks out of bed

To dance on the kitchen table.

Child of backyard,

Child of creek,

Child of freedom.

Wild child who jumps off the rocks

Mom doesn’t know about.

Wild child, will you ever sleep?

Child of daydreams,

Child of books,

Child of bedtime myths.

Wild child who makes up her own stories

Talking even in her sleep.

Child of bikes,

Child of balls,

Child of roller blades.

Wild child who scooters in the house

Chasing her brother in circles.

Child of dolls,

Child of dogs ,

Child of imaginary friends.

Wild child never needing anyone to

Answer her incessant questions.

Child of wonder,

Child of dreams,

Child of silly imagination.

Wild child of endless summer days in

The magic treehouse.

Wild child, I hope you never sleep.
